Islamic Influence at Paul Smith

Muslim Style: designer spotlight

Paul Smith rocked the runway with head scarves and Middle Eastern inspired outfits. He said of his collection “My collection was loosely based on the orientalist exhibition that was shown at the Tate Britain. The use of headscarves and shawls was inspired by the paintings and drawings as I saw them.”

Smith’s Season

Maybe it was the connection of his inspiration and his collection that made it feel a lot more authentic than Ralph Lauren’s, which though it included headscarves and the like, had more of a colonial feel. I’ve always been a big fan of Paul Smith when it comes to his men’s tailoring, but this season for me it was his womenswear that stuck out as one of the highlights of the season.

Not a bad job Mr Smith, I’m sure we can take it and make it our own hijabi style.
