Mslm Magazine

Hijabi Fashion: MSLM Magazine Cover
It’s already pretty well known, but for those of you who haven’t yet heard of it I thought I’d let you in on it. It was launched in 2007 and as far as I know only one issue was ever published along with an exhibition in Rotterdam. A glossy urban magazine for Muslimahs created by a group of Dutch women there was even an article written about it in the Herald Tribune.

So what is it all about?
“A group of young fashion-minded women, mostly 2nd generation, Muslim, clearly stands out on the dutch society.
MSLM shows the fashion of this group. Because these young women grew up in the Netherlands, because they ARE dutch, their background creates a fashion-clash which results in new interesting forms and silhouettes for both Muslim and non-Muslim women.
From traditional to trendy, from the Mid-East to the West, the project MSLM is both an exhibition and a fashion magazine.” (andreiacosta.nl)

More than just a fashion statement
So I know that not all of what they wear can be considered hijab, and even if you don’t like their style, it’s an impressive feat of creativity and heart. The exhibition in particular created a lot of interaction between Muslims and non-Muslims, and that’s something that should be praised.

AMAZING!!!…only if there were more muslim fashion magazines out there
There is an islamic fashion magazine in Cairo, Egypt. ITs called Hijab fashion. It is one of the best stylish hijabi fashion i’ve seen in ages…but its probably on a very small scale. Not as big as mslm.
Hi, I think this looks like a really inspirational magazine, but where on earth can you buy it in the UK!!!! Its driving me crazy!
