Bright Bonnets

A moment for hijabi’s in an editorial by Surface Magazine where an interesting use of hosiery caught my eye. All you need is a pair of opaque tights and you have yourself a new bonnet. I’ve been trying to figure out how exactly it’s worn and as far as I can see the waistband frames your face. One leg is cut short- this is where your neck goes, and the other leg is twisted around your hair. A perfect bright, summery base for a headscarf.

Where to get the Tights

The tights worn in the editorial all come from Foot Traffic which is an American online store. For us Brits there is a great equivalent, Lovecolour Lovetights have a well priced range, and you can even search by colour. For a huge selection and great multi-buy deals this is a great site. I don’t know about quality, but if anyone finds out I’d love to hear your comments.

ohh, this looks so good! I want to see some pictures of you trying it out! Maybe with bright block colour on the inside and a lighter slightly sheer pattern on the outside? So summery! x x

Don’t you think it’ll ‘clutch’ your head too tight that it’ll hurt your head? Nevertheless it seems like quite an idea since I’m getting bored of my bonnets, I just gotta find a really good quality pair so I can wear it comfortably inshaAllah ^.^ Thanks for the post, Hana! By the by I love sister Miya Tajima’s idea <3

That’s a neat idea! Except it *will* be a problem for girls with baby fat. That model is skinny and it already pushes her flesh out. Besides, who needs their hair any flatter?

Stick with looseness, a bit of volume, and a combed high pony tail.

Keeps your face looking natural and not squished and your hair soft and with volume when you let your hair down! :)
