Salvatore Ferragamo

Off the Runway: Simple design is executed beautifully in this look, hijab friendly and so chic

Bright Spark
Ferragamo has not has the warmest reception since taking on a new head designer in Cristina Ortiz. The pressure of taking on a well established label does funny things to a designer. But for all that was said I think there were some beautiful moments when she got it right. I had been planning this post for some time, trying to figure out what it was I liked about the collection. The sculptural tailoring and clever draping come out on top, but when it veers away from that it becomes to fussy and overworked. But it’s the tailoring and draping that works best for Muslimahs so there really isn’t much to complain about!

These wonderful shapes are elegant and fluid, some of the highlights of Ferragamo's Spring collection
Look Forward
I think the future looks good for Ferragamo, she’s taking the best of each collection and refining it. There are some great ideas, though a little less Muslimah friendly, for Fall. But come Spring 2010 I’m hoping for some beautiful hijab inspiration.

The loss of a few details would really benefit a few of these designs, but the ideas were stunning
