Henley Hijab

Modest Fashion Update

Jersey henley modest maxi dress hijab fashion

This jersey maxi dress combines the casual and feminine effortlessly. As worn by Nicole Richie it’s the perfect base for a hijab outfit, if you’re worried about clingy jersey then just wear an oversized boyfriend shirt over the top or a long line cardigan. Lovely!

love it. it’s long but edgy and cool. AND despite the length, it doesn’t look like something a mom with 5 kids would wear. LOVE IT!

But, have you any idea of where it is from? What brand or whatever? Or where we could get something very similar?

Love the dress but no longer available (on most sites) and at $235 I was going to pass anyway!
But very nice!

Thanks

I love this dress. I’m always looking for maxi dress variations. This would have been perfect. Sad to hear it’s sold out.

They are cool, but I still prefer my cottony ones ;]

Are you kidding me? There is nothing modest about this whatsoever. It’s super tight and clingy, not to mention see through. And this is all with the women wearing it being extra-thin. What on earth would it look like on a woman with even a slightly fuller figure? Really think we need to re-evaluate what is classed as ‘hijab’ because this certainly isn’t!

Sara,
I think the point is to adapt styles, I certainly don’t wear figure clothes but if I could find that dress in a larger size I usually get a 10/12 dress when I am an 8 if they are jersey type fabrics. Nicole has chosen to wear a top under hers; I would prefer one on top but I would still be covered and modest.

You’ve got it Uzz, hijabi’s are great at modifying! A lot of my posts are starting points to let your imagination create at outfit. It’s great to get some ideas from you guys on how to wear them!

For me I’d choose a looser dress in the same style and then layer over a boyfriend shirt (to hide and clingy bits) and then a vintage leather or denim jacket. So chic and really comfortable thanks to the jersey.

They sell exact copies on asos i bought a pair but unfortunately the material isnt very good quality for hijab wearers its very thin material and accentuates every curve on your body unless you buy a couple of sizes bigger i had to return mine.

Hana, your designs and ideas really inspire me. Im not the most creative person but Ive certainly taken colour combinations and ideas and put my own twist on it.
Thanks again for the site!!

This dress is useless because its clingy. If they look like that on everyone that there’s no use in buying it.

Sara, comments like the one you left are EXACTLY what keep me away from reading most muslim “fashion” blogs. I’m really sick of reading such negativity. The moment someone posts pics of something that is not tent-sized, shapeless, or a disaster in layering, someone simply *must* start freaking out. Not everyone wants to run around wearing mom clothes! Most of the longer-length clothing that you find in stores, you have to admit (unless you are completely high-fashion ignorant), look like something a 30+, or more likely a 40+, year-old woman would wear. “A-line”, “bias cut”, “slightly flared”. Please step away from the matron wear. Quite frankly, if you are in your 20s or younger that is NOT the look you should be aspiring for.

Also, the author NEVER stated that if we bought a dress like the one above, that we should wear it EXACTLY as shown. If you are so worried about it being too clingy, then as people suggested, buy it a couple of sizes up or adapt it. Wear a long belted cardigan. Use your *gasp!* IMAGINATION!!!

Seriously, it’s hard enough to find ways of expressing ourselves through fashion, (which is really a form of art!), without masjid aunties jumping on board to berate us at every step.
