Let Loose

Feeling All Bluesy

Hijab style wide leg jeans modest hijabi loose

I’m always drawn to blues and greys (as somebody quite rightly pointed out!). This shirt, which cost me about £2 at a charity (or thrift) shop is one of my go-to pieces at the moment you can use them to cover up all sorts of tight areas. So throw on something loose, it will give you understated casual style in a very comfortable package!

Asalaam alaikum, I check in often but this is my first comment, lovely work Hana! Uzz, if you still want height but don’t like heels have you tried wedge heeled shoes?

These are slightly more moulded and less clumpy than old platforms and they aren’t tottery. Wedge heel BOOTS also were big in British Vogue this year. Take it from me I am very petite and hate heels and they are very comfy. Otherwise ballet pumps for active people or off duty chic. :) WS. x

How do I wear wide legged trousers and avoid looking wide and stocky like this:
short wide trousers

but instead look long and lean like this???
white wedding trousers

You look slim and kinda tall in the pic, Hana. But I am short and have wide hips. Is there any hope?

Walaikum Asalaam
Leila Thanks for the advice I’m not looking for height. I just find that heel are not great work chasing kids or running upstairs in :)
And speaking of boots I want some flatish ones that are cute…but man!!! No such luck

Asalaam alaikum,
Mashallah! You’re a mum! :) Okay, so, maybe something like slip on mules or tennis shoes (plimsolls) in a bright colour for running round in the park and the supermarket run and also inside? (Using both UK and US English here.) Mules have a variety of “uppers” so you can go for casual trainer/sneaker types, or just leather. You can slip these on and they don’t require maintenance – leather is wipe-clean in the case of mud, dog-do, child sick etc. (I’m not a Mum but hey, the things you never prep for are the things that happen.)

Other house-shoes are flip-flops maybe? But sturdy non-foam ones, maybe ones with a shock-absorber in the heel, and plaited top part and toe bar just to feel a bit more feminine. I’m just thinking mainly low maintenance, feminine and no laces/buckles to save time. I know that boot heels are INSANELY high so I sympathise. Good luck looking – maybe something in an UGGS style would cut it? They have plenty of grip and are quite flat, although I don’t like the style personally.
There are always wellington boots! Cheap, weather-proof, washable and now in tons more expressive graphic designs. Good hunting. x

Leila…no not mum lol! Lots of nephews and nieces but am not married. I actually work in a residential setting with children so I dress casually, I’m a little tomboyish but with a feminine twist.
Uggs are not my style..Im about comfort…lol my mum says Im too picky and should dress like other girls…pah! lol
I dont really do boots and am conscious of showing leg shape so it would have to be under trouser stuff..
Anyway I shall carry on…thank you so much the advice sister.

Wasalaam

ps. I think if i wore wellie to work Id never make it out alive the kids would just have a field day! lol
U

Asalaam alaikum,
Okay well I tried! :) Sorry for the mistake, you’re being practical and your Mum’s thinking about what everyone else will be thinking of her daughter… lol. You stick to your convictions. My Mum’s not a hijabi and I am. See you around. Allah hafiz. x
