It’s so nice to find that a friend you haven’t seen in a while is doing well.  A girl I worked with for a very short but wonderful time has set up a company, she’s a freelance web design person (I don’t think that’s the official term), and does some graphic design, book covers, logos etc.  So if you’re in need of such a person check out her website Fikr Media. xx

The Way You Drape

You’ll all may be aware that I missed out on seeing this show, my poor invite sits on my desk unused while I’m writing this.  But perhaps it’s a good thing, had I been there I can’t promise that I wouldn’t have stormed the runway to grab that beautiful soft trench (below).  I may be small, but nothing comes between me and the perfect jacket, uhuh!

So I’ve been resigned to looking through the wonderful photos falling in love with stuning colours and silhouettes.  ’I'd wear that in a heartbeat’ (said to myself over and again.)  And that’s the thing with Amanda Wakeley, she knows how to create pieces that love the female form.  The loose cuts are modest and the drape creates wonderful shapes which transform over the body as you move.

Of Accessories

The Camilla Skovgaard shoes need no introduction, being as they are,  a mainstay of collaboration with Wakeley. But particularly in this collection, the desert boot soles are just perfect.  Then there are the bracelets which given half a chance, and the bank account, I would find myself acquiring.  Something about the strong structural shape and the softness of what is reflected in it is simple and beautiful, something that could easily be the tag-line for this collection!

Style Statement

Completing our maxi skirt feature here are some images I absolutely love.  If sporty’s your thing then check out the Vogue ‘More Cash than Dash’ feature, although white may not be the most practical colour for a floor length skirt!  Or if like me  you love the mixed up stylings of Alexa Chung take this beauty for inspiration.

Fall 2009

Knitwear featured big this season from chunky to barely there they were piled on to create wonderful layered looks. Great for hijab the headscarves and snoods were elegant and edgy. So wrap up this winter, and layer yourself in this seasons hottest (excuse the pun) trend.

Sweet Obsession

I have a little obsession with lace at the moment, partly because I’m sourcing some for the next photo shoot, and partly because this season designers have done so many lovely things with it. This maxi dress combines the elegant with the quirky in a delightfully delicate way.

Haider Ackermann

I can’t believe it took me this long to figure out that the familiar face I saw in the Paris show was Haider Ackermann. I was wracking my brains, trying to place him. Eventually and with a little help from the Sartorialist it came back to me. The closest I’ve come to being starstruck I think, silly I know. He has that cool laid back style that I love (and think I love more now). To see his awesome work I did a couple of posts a while ago here and here. Just got back from Paris after a tiring but fun business trip (you’ll see pictures soon), I just wanted to say Eid Mubarak to all my lovely readers! Super Chic

This weekend I’m in need of some très chic inspiration. I’m off to Paris on Monday for some MAYSAA business stuff, so this Miu Miu outfit taken from the French magazine L’Officiel is just what I need. It’s obviously not hijab friendly, but I’m thinking long lines, maxi skirts and rich colours teamed with neutrals. A style that has a contemporary reflection on classic themes, very grown up!
