But an Extra day of sale

First off, our tremendous bad for MAYSAA getting overwhelmed by traffic. We sort of passed out with so much love and attention, but now we’ve had our smelling salts and come round, we’re back on our feet. And because of that dizzy spell we’re extending the sale another day!

And so to my last pick of the sale.

No.1 Stripe Cropped Cardi

It’s deliciously comfortable, made out of cotton modal, and a great coverup for warm weather. The fact that it’s cropped means you can wear all sorts of fancy stuff underneath and have it peek out. I love it, a lot.

Was £24 NOW JUST £15 get yours HERE

Don’t you just love it when you find a forgotten piece in your wardrobe and fall in love with it all over again? It’s one of my most favourite things.. in fact, it’s not unlikely that I forget about things just so I get to find them again. My newest find is the Maysaa striped crop cardigan. It’s great to throw over things, and my favourite way to wear it now is to tie the sides, so that the lovely drapey-ness becomes this soft tailored shape. I used to to the same thing to my pyjamas. When I was around 8, I had a lovely cotton nightgown that got ripped. So I cut it to make it short, then cut the sides so I could tie a little knot on each side. I still have the top now, and I’ll love and wear it until it is no more.

Sorry for my lack of posts, my health has not be great of late and I’m just trying to get better. I’ve learned not to rush these things lest I end up taking months to recover. But, I’m feeling a little perkier today, so I thought I’d share a little post with you.

Relaxed Casual Style

Yes she’s beautiful, but she’s also understated. Whether in sweats or a stunning maxi dress she knows how to dress stylishly casual. The key to her style is a simple outfit plus a pashmina scarf and oversized sunglasses. Hijabis will have no shortage of pashminas so adopting her laid back style will be easy. Maybe just swap the maxi dress with a simple black abaya or cover up with a cardigan.

So whether you love or loathe her style, there are certain tricks she uses that can be adapted to suit your own style.

The Countdown Begins

Islamic Fashion: Maxi Dress and a long cardigan perfect hijabi summer style

Yadira’s Suggestion

“I live in guadalajara mexico and i am helping organize the community here , I find that the new sisters are confused on the way they should wear hijab , and I am not just talking about the head scarf, I would really like your help in giving us a small example of outfits I can use as an example for them…most of them are young and want to be modern , but to respect the guidelines of hijab.”

All is not lost

As a revert you may come across the urge for a wardrobe purge. But before you banish your entire wardrobe there are some great transitional pieces that can help you make the most of what you already have. These are pieces that saw me through the initial changes but that are still invaluable now. I’ll break our top 10 into different outfits and show you how you can mix and match between them. At the end of the countdown I’ll post outfits taken from my own wardrobe using our ‘Reverts Essentials.’

10. Maxi Dress

Mmm maxi dresses! I probably don’t have to mention how much I love maxi dresses. They are so easy to wear and they require only minimal layering. For those who don’t yet have an abaya or are looking for something a little different then a maxi dress can be the perfect combination of Islamic Fashion and one trend style.

9. Long Cardigan

Cardigans will cover a multitude of things, from bare arms to a cinched in waistline they are an essential part of any girls wardrobe whether they wear hijab or not. It just so happens that as well as looking lovely they are actually a great way to take something that shows shape or skin and make it more hijab friendly. I have one from Zara, but I wish I had bought another one so I could wear them on rotation!

8. Pashmina

The most obvious and distinctive of any hijabi outfit. The pashmina was my first ever hijab, bought in Venice quite a few years back. Little did I know then that I would be wearing it for more than just warmth in winter! That was a real pashmina (100% cashmere) but when I talk about pashmina style hijab’s they can be any rectangular shape cloth. Most of my other pashmina’s are from the high-street or green-street and were pretty cheap. I prefer the style over the square hijab and they seem to be much more available even in summer.

Love What You Have

These 3 items make up some of my favourite summer outfits. For a hijabi in summer high-street shops are suddenly flooded with long floaty maxi dresses in pretty prints. In summer you may not find the long cardigan, so instead of packing it into the loft with your winter wardrobe keep it in your wardrobe- it will come in very handy! I had the cardigan and pashmina long before I became Muslim, but as the Maxi dress has only really taken off on the high-street in the last few years this was something I added later. Lets hope this summer trend comes back for many years to come!
