The full debrief

I finally got a chance to give you these pictures!  I know it’s been too long (this incidentally should be my catchphrase for the coming months) but I thought I’d make up for it with a lovely plus sized post.  I had such a blast at Smoky not Smudgy, aside from the inevitable panic about models and fittings etc.  My helpers Dee and Zinah were amazing, I have no doubt I would have been (more of) a wreck without them!

A Few of my Favourite Things

1. 1. My helpers, bien sur, they were wonderful.  I had to reward their efforts somehow, so I made some ‘team t-shirts’ see above. Maysaa ♥’s Zinah I.D.S.T.* and (after finding out her nickname Xena.. as in warrior princess) a fully embellished sword on the back.  Dee (as in Sunny Dee) got a Sun, not that I was choosing girls with great nicknames, I kinda lucked out though right?
2. 2. Meeting all the lovely people who came.  Including seeing a beautiful girl wearing the Maysaa Chiffon Scarf Snood which she’d teamed with a fabulous, and I will make an exception for using that word in this particular case, fur hat.  A perfect Polish addition!
3. 3. Getting an email from a wonderful girl who travelled from Manchester to see the show.  I was speechless, and rather sad I didn’t actually get to say hi.
4. 4. A mini reunion with my girls Jana (off of hijab style) and Miss. Elenany (off of Elenany), it’s been too long.

*For those of you who didn’t spend their childhood writing I ♥ Z.C.  I.D.S.T. all over their notebooks it stands for If Destroyed Still True, and I stand by that, I know nothing of a *cough* ‘dirty’ version.

Of the Preview

I know I’ve been MIA recently, but preparations for Smoky not Smudgy followed by preparations for Malaysia (less than 9 hours till my flight iA!) have left me no time for a life, let alone my love StyleCovered. So I hope this will tide you over until I get to KL and then I’ll do a full report.  Oh how I’ve missed my little blog.

Huge thank you’s to everyone who made it out, and I’m sorry I wasn’t more available.  I was hidden away with the models trying to get everything perfect, but I really wanted to come down and be with you all.

And eternal thanks to my lovely helpers Dee and Zinah (who has an amazing blog) but I’ll elaborate more in the proper post.

Dans Paris

Recently I’ve had such a urge to get on the Eurostar and walk around Paris for a few hours, get lost, get cold.  And although I know this is not a fashion post, it was just so beautiful.  I hope you don’t mind to see the thoughts in my mind maintenant.

Sometimes one shirt isn’t enough

The skirt is by Maysaa, it’s rather fabulous even if I do say so myself.  There is just a waterfall of fabric from your hips, it reminds me of the character skirts I used to be in awe of back in my dancing days.  But this time I decided to rough it up a little with my vintage denim shirt and leather belt, and my Alexa Chung for Made skull necklace.

It makes me so happy seeing things like this for obvious reasons!  But also this is making a very good point.  I have been featuring a lot of Malaysian girls on my blog, because you ARE just so fly.  But I’m thinking I’d love to feature more lovely girls from around the world, I know you’re out there, I’ve seen you gorgeous people.  So if anyone’s up for it send me photos via hana @ stylecovered dot com and you can be my (and your) inspiration. xx

Black to a White Wedding

So I was a little apprehensive about wearing a long sleeved, long black dress (albeit worn as a  jacket) to a summer wedding.  But after checking with my peeps on twitter I was re-assured I wasn’t committing a fashion faux pas, thanks guys!  A little white thrown in for good measure, and the loveliest shade of inky blue I’ve seen.  Those three colours are my combination du jour thanks to Tom Ford’s ‘A Single Man’ (though I watched it after this outfit choice)

I love clothes that re-invent themselves without any effort, this Maysaa maxi dress turns into the most beautiful long jacket I’ve ever worn.  I wish I’d taken some photos of me walking in it.  Ahh if you’d seen it!  It sort of billows out in a very soft but dramatic swoosh, and gently falls like water as you walk down stairs as demonstrated in the photo above.  If you’ve already bought the Kimono wrap maxi dress (a very reasonable £45) then definitely try this look out!

Polka dots and stripes

Oh no, not another nautical themed post.  Had a funny experience on the tube yesterday, I was wearing a Breton striped top (you know those white and blue tops) and got on the tube.  Sitting opposite me were 2 girls wearing Breton striped tops, I got that feeling, if I see another person wearing that top I’m gonna… Well it turns out I’m gonna do a post featuring a striped top. I’m quite in love with blue and white at the moment.
