First off, our tremendous bad for MAYSAA getting overwhelmed by traffic.  We sort of passed out with so much love and attention, but now we’ve had our smelling salts and come round, we’re back on our feet.  And because of that dizzy spell we’re extending the sale another day!

No.1 Stripe Cropped Cardi

It’s deliciously comfortable, made out of cotton modal, and a great coverup for warm weather.  The fact that it’s cropped means you can wear all sorts of fancy stuff underneath and have it peek out.  I love it, a lot.

No.3 Pleat Front Wide Leg Trousers

Reaching a momentous moment right about now.  3 days left of the MAYSAA SALE and half way through my creme de la sale. These palazzo pants, a.k.a. Pleat front wide leg trousers are in at number 3 (I feel like I sound like I’m on Top of the Pops, like).  These are a couple of sizes too big and rolled up for styling effect.  Wearing different sizes gives a whole new ‘hang’ on the body.

No.4  Open Front Jumpsuit Maxi Dress

Want a jumpsuit and a dress, how about a dress that thinks it’s a jumpsuit. Deal?  I remember being sat at my desk sketching out a jumpsuit and then erasing lines until this appeared.  Suitable for equator-weather-friendly layering. The skirt is lined an’ all.

No. 5 Jersey Maxi Dress

So please excuse technology for not allowing me to post this yesterday, but here it is.  The LAST 5 DAYS of the MAYSAA SALE and me picking between my ‘children’ for favourites.  I’ve had to console myself by thinking not which is my favourite? but what do I want to wear today?

The first is one I wore yesterday, I wore it yesterday because I’d been inspired by a wonderful girl I’d met at the Reflections event.  She looked stunning in it, and my head was telling me ’see this is why you design’.  Because the first thing I noticed was that she was (and she is) beautiful, the second was ‘holy crap that’s my dress’. (see how pretty)

p.s. I think I’m still on a 90’s kick judging by the colour editing.

I was sure I’d posted this, even now I’m almost certain I did, and yet for all my searching I couldn’t find it anywhere.  Seems strange that all this happened nearly a year ago.  Anyhow, these were taken behind the scenes shooting for Safiyya, where- being short of another model- I was persuaded to stand alongside a stunning and tall (in comparison to me at least) professional model and pretend to know what I was doing.  I was watching it air from behind a pillow, whilst being somewhat berated for my fake plastic smile.  But at least the clothes looked stunning.

Accessories from Poya Boutique

As you well know by now I’m a fan of strange combinations, because they’re hard to get right, but incredibly satisfying when they come together.  I did a post before with the Malaysian jeans brand Tarik, and had a style or two left over that had a little mini story all of their own.  This story happens to be called ‘B-Boy Ballet’ and is contemporary chick-lit at its best (a reverse Save The Last Dance).  I’m expecting a publisher to call me up any day now to offer me millions for this literary masterpiece.  Wait, did I just go off topic? I could have sworn I left my point somewhere around here… nope… let’s just enjoy the pretty colours.

I’ve been planning this Tarik Jeans shoot for a while now (see much much earlier post), and what is a girl to do with a wonderful a haul as this?  Grab anything faaaancy off of wardrobe rails add (as ever) a bit of vintage, then get to putting it all together.  I’m very much loving this unlikely combination.  The hard softness, the ‘it-should’ t-work-but-it-does-ness’, has taken me quite out of my zone, and all of a sudden I’m 15 in Brixton watching boys be b-boys.
